Question Water flow question

I have a 150 gallon tank with a sump in my basement. The pump is on the sump and it has a true union ball valve on both sides. My question is which side should I tighten so that the drains can keep up with the returns? The connection between the pump and the sump or the connection between the pump and the main tank? Or should I tighten both?

Are you asking about closing one of the valves? Both should be open all the way. The valves are only there to close for pump maintenance.

I think he is having a problem with a pump thats too big...i.e. pumps back into tank faster then it can drain.....would this be right?...
close valve at pump into tank and thus creating head....that should slow the water going back into tank....
But....IMO...find a proper size pump.....(for what its worth...I have the same problem)

Yes. I am also having a problem with noise. I have two DIY Durso standpipes and they are flushing constantly...
