Converting a wet/dry to a refug
I have a wet/dry sump for my 140 and was wondering how exactly to change the middle compartment(full of padding and bio balls) into a refuge? Can anyone help? And also is this something that is okay to do during the cycle of the tank?

If you don't have any livestock sure thing it is ok. you just need to put some sand, rubble and macro algae in there. You don't want too much flow so you should, depending on your design, have some baffles installed to slow the flow down to maximize contact with the macro.

hmmm.....sounds like a bit of trouble. So i would have to drain the sump and glue in baffles? Where would they go and how many? Im guessing right after the skimmer sectioning? Are the baffles completely necessary?

I don't know how your wet dry is set up. I, at one time, had two wet/dry's connected via a 1" bulkhead and used them that way. They are not completely necessary, just help slow things down and remove micro bubles. Do some searching on converting the w/d to a fuge/sump, you will find a lot of info out there.
