Lighting change
I have given it some thought, and feel I am going to get rid of my reef and just have fish and LR.
I am wondering what my 72" 3x250 hood and ballast set up is worth. It is about 3 yrs old. It also has 4 power compact actinics built in with moonlights. All seperate switches for ease of day/night effect. How much flourescent light will I need for my 30" deep 220gal tank? Will 4 bulbs be sufficient? I probably won't be able to get all the mushrooms out, but I think they will almost live in the dark. Any help would be appreciated. Guzz

All you need is enough light for the fish and for the algae to grow on the rock. You could probably get away with just the PC bulbs you have and sell off the halides.
Or - you can just continue to run the lighting the way it is. |
