Will a 250w Lumenarc III with sheild glass over heat?

I have two Lumenarc III reflectors for my 250W MH, but the
reflectors did not come with shield glass. I was going to buy
some plate or tempered glass for them to stop any water
splash, but there are no vents in the reflectors.

I could have a fan blow on the outside of the reflectors
and I could measure the temp inside the reflector but I have
found no guidelines as to what the ideal/max temperature is
for MH lamps. Any information or experience would be
appreciated.

Thanks,
Brian

how close to the water are you gong to put them. They need to be somewhat raised over the tank so that you can get good spread.

I am also unfamiliar with anybody using glass shields on lumenarcs when using a single ended bulb.

The reflectors are about 6" from the water. The reflector has a track for a shield and I was thinking it would be some insurance and would make salt splash easer to clean.

They should be fine, I used glass shields on mine running 400W bulbs, no problems at all. Use a fan to keep air moving around them.
