bubbles with seaswirls

i thought i had to small of a sump for my 180 because of bubbles that would come out of the seaswirls when the pump was running wide open. so i tried to make a closed loop to see if i indeed were picking up the bubbles from the sump or not. also when i tuned down the pump half way the bubbles did go away.they are the very small ones,at first i thought it was sand. anyway closed loop, and still the same, bubbles if the flow is fast, goes away when slow. my question is could i be picking up air somehow through the seaswirl? any thoughts would be great

I have'nt had any issues with my three SS's, I suppose that you could have a crack in the plastic - that might allow a leak to produce micro bubbles. How much GPH is "wide open"?
I do know that the 1/2" has a max flow of 550 GPH , 3/4" 850 max and the 1" 1150 GPH. Maybe your problem lies there? TinMan

i believe the pump is 850 or so gph, and i do have it split between two 3/4 inch sea swirls.

You are within the SS's recommendations, I'm stumped. You had bubbles on the closed loop also? Do you use hose or rigid pipe(PVC)? Can you post a picture of the plumbing? Since the SS's are the last in the flow line, take them off and see if you have bubbles still........then track it all the way back to the pump. T
