in tank refugium
So i am really tired of trying to keep my sump clean, just because of the way that it designed. I really would like to buy an in tank refuguim from marinedepot.com and just put some macro in there and call it good.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Is the in tank setup worth it or should i just get rid of it all togather? does anyone else have a better idea that bwould not cost me a lot of money? i like the in tank because i can use my main light with that. my refugium i had before had some t5's on it and i believe it was too much because it also grew a lot of nasty algae. i see pictures of peoples tanks and they are always so nice looking. my refuguim was just green algae everywhere. was that a bad thing? This was the refuguim before! |

That setup is the best way to go . HOB fuge are alright but not the way to go if you already have refugium.
Your fuge looks bad but im sure you can fix this. What substrate do you have and how is the flow ? |

easy way to fix that prob. is by adding a filter sock to the end of your drain pipe.

so you took out the pre filter and bio balls/LR rubble
and sumps/wet-dry filters arent made for use as a fuge in the first place...thats why they make Refugiums as a TOTALLY diffrent design |

i now have a filter sock and it works really good but i spent all that time cleaning the sump so i dont want to make it a refugium anymore. i never had substrate i just had chaeto in there. so should i make a really small refuguim and put it next to the wet dry filter or should i just get the in tank one and put chaeto in it again?
