My endcap is smoking!
I bought a custom sea life full power compact hood 4x96 two years ago and it has worked great. Recently, I smelled that electrical fire smell and looked under the hood and saw smoke coming from the endcap! I pulled the bulb from that end cap and have been running the hood with just the 2 inside light bulbs, which are on the same ballast and just not plugging in the other ballast to avoid the endcap smoking. It smokes even if the bulb isn't in it if the ballast is plugged in and on. Any ideas on how to fix that or get someone else to fix it? I'd hate to throw away a $500 hood due to a smoking endcap.
Any help at all is appreciated.

get a new endcap and replace it, sounds like it's shorting out, likely has salt creep inside it.
