Calc Reactor
What to look for or compare with calcium reactors. Do I even need one? I have a 90gal. reef. Whats good and whats bad? Any suggestions would help.

Bigger is better. I have a Knop C, it doesn't really keep up with the demands of my tank.

Well first whats your Ca. reading. If water changes alone keep readings in check then its just a toy. But if you have alot of stock that depend on constant levels readings and take more then the normal readings within water changes then its a nessesity.

The Ca. is usually reading high @400-500. I use B-IONIC A/B. every other or 3rd day. Everything in the tank seems to be fine but I figured that a reactor would be more consistant and accurate. I am now getting into more of the SPS corals, not just softies, which I thought were pretty easy to keep.

Is it more a necessity for a reactor when keeping sps in the tank.

This article might help:
http://www.advancedaquarist.com/issues/feb2003/chem.htm Tanks with high calcium demand usually seem to end up getting a reactor attached to them, but there are alternatives.
