cyano help!

just started out 3months all my levels are fine and normal..
my ph is a bit low 8.0
nitrates are zero

calc 450
mag 1400
alk 10dkh

i test my phosphates with salifert and it reads between
.1 to .25...i am getting an outbreak only in my sand in the front and all around for some reason, i siphoned it up but still comes back it started getting bad when i started using hydro carbon2 i dont know if its just a coincidence i dont feed alot and i use frozen brine shrimp.. is it just a phase new tanks go through?
i use to use bottled salt water but this is the first week i used ro water that i bought from the lfs. i have been using a po 4-minus for 10 days now and nothings budging need advice.

alot has to do with it being a new tank but your phosphates are high. deff. need to get those lowered before adding any corals and such. also lowering those will also help with the canyo.

Cyano is a pretty std algae bloom in newer tanks .. nothing to be concerned about . Newer tanks don't have all the micro organisms that would otherwise sequester phosphate and cyano thrives on phosphates.

You might consider running a phosphate binder (phosban etc), increasing the frequency of your water changes, and periodically siphoning out the cyano (which removes the phosphates it has consumed). Some people with chronic cyano will add a fuge to lets plants compete for the phosphates .. some will drip kalwasser which will help precipitate it out of the water column.

If your not thawing/rinsing your frozen food .. start. Should help eliminate the nutrients in the frozen water which do nothing for the fish but can feed algae blooms.
