rinse carbon???

I am about to use carbon for the first time do I need to rinse it before I use it or can I just throw it in (its in a bag)??? Probably dumb question but better to be safe than sorry right?

rinse it to rid the dust particals. i always rinse mine till clear water comes out

if you dont rinse it you will end up with a black cloud in the tank. It might not hurt anything, but it will look bad.

Yep, definitely rinse it. I usually rinse in some RO/DI water...I don't want to waste any of its adsorbing power on my lousy tap water.

i always rinse hate the thought of the black powder getting into the fish's gills.

either just before you put it in the tank.

in the bag is usually easier and less messy.
