I used it in the past. It seems to be more geared around freshwater than salt. Stress coat drove my skimmer crazy for about a week. I stopped using it.

My understanding is that stress coat is basically aloe vera juice - it sure smells and feels like it. I have used it in my tank (no skimmer) with no problems. You use such a small amount per gallon. I am not sure it does any good, but it did not seem to hurt either. My thought is that if it has no proven benefit, why waste your money.

I use it exclusively in my fw tanks for new additions and w/c. I think I remember using in my sw once a long time ago and having my skimmer go nuts on me.

I wouldn't use it for sw. Just follow normal QT procedures for new additions, acclimating appropriately, and chose tank mates carefully.

Best wishes,

I think when I was first getting into the hobby, I doese Stress Coat in the tank to help new additions. I don't do that any longer.

Since those early days, I have only used Stress Coat when moving.

I do not have a r.o.d. . so I put a shot of stress coat in a 1 gal. jug of water and air stone for 1 week. Then I put 5 gal. in a bucket with salt and mix for another week. No skimmer problums, or alge ether. And no puting 5 gal. two 1 down the drine!

I would not use it. The important things are adjusting to salinity level and water tempature. And the slower the better. Also leaving lights out first day.

do not use for saltwater specially tanks with skimmers it will make your skimmer go crazy until it is removed.
It has polymers that will cause bubbles to bond longer.

Not sure if it helps, but I've been using it in my BC and have had no problems with it. But, the tank isn't that old yet. It has not killed off my LR or either Green Chromis, so I would have to think it's safe, but that's just my opinion.
