overflow or stand pipe?

I have a tank that I am going to drill. Whats the best way to have it. Stand pipe or overflow?

i personaly have internal overflows yhay have standpipes in them to reduce noise, and i works great, and is almost silent and i am talking about on a large system

Current Tank Info: 5.5 foot 216g starphire sps tank at home, 8 ft softy tank at work
