My New Marine Tank

Hey guys, i`m kinda new to this.. Took me exactly 1month to get my tank ready so i could actually feel safe to add fishes in it.

PH -> 8.4
Nitrites and Nitrate -> 0

Temporarily i`m using a normal filter system and a cheap skimmer. I`ll b replacing all these stuff as soon as i`ve collected enough money. Am planning to buy a Tunze Skimmer and for the sump, i`ll be replacing it with a small refuge.

Here`s a list of the fishes that are currently in my tank.

Fire Clown
Yellow Tailed Clown
Perciula Clown
Lion Fish
Damsel

2 pictures of my tank. p.s sorry for the blurry images =D

Those clowns are going to make some nice fish food for the Lion

You didn't list your ammonia levels... have you tested those? Were all fish added at the same time? How big is the tank?

Looks good I am not sure how big that tank is by the picture I would personally had more live rock to the tank for more of a biological filter since you are not running a skimmer

I have a 30g that has 2 4-striped damsels and a lion, I am surprised they haven’t been eaten yet. They have shared that tank for almost 8 months; maybe they are just use to each other.

Personally, you might want to secure the rocks a little more. From the photo's they look like they may only be on the bottom of the tank in a few areas? Do they wobble or shake at all? Id be worried about that Lion knocking into some unstable rocks and having them all come crashing down.

If the lion doesn't get them, they'll get each other. I wouldn't put 3 clowns together in any tank less than an 180.

LOL !
I myself have never had the balls to put a small little "gum-drop" shaped clown into a tank with a lionfish.
IMO trade the lion fish back for a peaceful fish of similar price.
Maybe a Spotted hawk, or a pesudochromis.

You need to remove the lion, you are already overstocked especially with little to no filtration and lions are huge messy eaters, a volitan like that one appears to be will quickly grow to at least 10" around if not bigger and they really do grow fast. Keep a very close eye on your ammonia, nitrites and nitrates. Is your tank only a month old?

If you add any significant amount of live rock, you run the risk of sending the tank back into a cycle. Personally I think you've added those fish in too soon. Tanks been up only 1 month?

Don't put more live rock in yet, you may not have a great skimmer but hopefully it works at least some -so do water changes every week. Then get the refuge and the better skimmer. Then add the rest of the live rock. Also, be careful when doing water changes & stuff w/ Mr. lion. See if you can return the fire and yellow-tail clowns in exchange for the credit on the stuff you need. Read as much as you can on these forums while you save up the cash - take your time and enjoy the two clowns and the lion while you wait to build things up the correct way.
