Canister Filter: Filter Floss instead of Filter Pads?

I run carbon and Rowaphos in an Eheim Canister Filter. I stack the filter as follows:

Pump Head
Fine pad
Rowaphos
Fine pad
Carbon
Fine pad
Coarse pad
Water intake

The Eheim coarse filter pads hold up very well. The fine pads flatten out and shrink (diameter) rather quickly. I am thinking that it might be better to use filter floss in place of the fine pads. I believe it would work just as well, and I could simply toss it when I change the media.

Is there any reason that I shouldn't run good, old-fashioned, filter floss in my canister filter instead of the filter pads that are made for it?

Thanks,

You can do that, but filter floss will clog up quickley. You will have to change it out more often.
