H.O.B's

What is the general concenses of H.O.B overflows. My tank is not reef ready, but I am wanting a sump and fug. I have heard instances where there is a risk of overflowing the tank among other problems. But I can't afford another tank right now, and I want more water. Is there another alternative?

I've been running mine for over 1.5yrs with no probs. Its a hurricane utube overflow. Its a good hot overflow. The amiracle is a good one as well. The best is the lifereef but its 100-200bux compared to the first two which are 37-60bux. Just make sure its a utube and not a ctype with a pump involved.
