Upgrading pump on Euroreef 5-2 questions

Ive got a sedra 5000 laying around collecting dust. I know a guy who has a Euroreef 5-2 with a sedra 3500 on it.

Is there any gain to swapping his 3500 out for the 5000, or should he just meshmod the 3500 hes got and call it good??

??

thanks

the 5000 would be overkill.

you could meshmod it but i think thier wasnt much improvement on that particular pump.

you could go with a aquabee 2001 pump. (das) carries them i think is petorama if you google

You dont think their would be much improvement by meshmodding the 3500??

Thanks for the input on the oump being overkill...i figured as much...but I would think meshmodding the 3500 would have to help

I've got a meshmodded eheim 1250 on mine. Pics in my gallery...

I wouldn't buy a 1250 just to meshmod it. I had a spare on hand and decided to put it to use. A mesh modded quiet one 3000 would be excellent. I believe they can be purchased for $45~

I meshmodded my 3500. It increased the air from about 4lpm to 5 lpm. So it's a good percentage increase in air, but to be honest, I couldn't tell much of a difference. Another member on these boards, Mr Pike, I beleive, made his own venturi and was able to about double the air out of the pump. I don't know how he did it but I know it involved making a lot smaller venturi. I will probably play around with this eventualyl when I get the time. I am also VERY interested in getting more air out of this pump. I believe the 5-2 is similar to the new RS100 right? I have the RS100 and yes, it could use more air.
