What are these pretty colors in my sand bed?

About three weeks ago I started noticing lime green and hot pink colors in my sand bed where it presses up against the glass. None of these colors appear on top of the sand. I thought it was some kind of algae, but I've been running a phosban reactor for the last two weeks to deal with a green algae outbreak and while the phosban got rid of the green algae, it doesn't seem to have affected the "colors". My sand bed is 2" or less and there are pods in it. I did notice that all my narsius snails are on the glass now, which is kind of weird.

Anybody know what this might be?

Thanks,
Rick L.

Without a pic it's hard to be positive, but more or less it should be just the sand bed doing its job...

You don't want to disturb this, just leave it be.

I would guess that it is algae or bacteria, either way it isn't anything to be concerned about. I have the same colors in my 2 tanks with DSBs.
