what is your Ca. Reactor pump of choice?

Hey all,
I have a dilema. My powerhead that I use to supply my Ca. Reactor with water from the sump keeps getting exhausted and shutting off. When I find this I have to basically shut the selinoid off and start from almost the begining again. This happens once every week or so for the past month.

What do you all find a reliable pump that can handel the backup pressure of supplying the reactor with water??? (My guess is the pressure builds up b/c its pushing water in as hard as it can, and my effulent is only a steady flow of drips at best which makes for a dead powerhead every week or so.)

LMK what kind of pumps you're using to supply your reactor and how long the life of the pump is.

Thanks alot!

Try teeing into your main return line.WAY more reliable than a seperate pump! Try it ,you'll like it!

Geezzzzz, I cannot believe I didn't even consider that one. And with that it's even possible to control amount of flow to the reactor with a valve.

Thanks! I needed a good slap in the face. I honestly appreciate it.

I have an Eheim 1260 with my K2R.

I have not set it yet though, soI cannot comment on performance.

For a feed pump I don't find anything more reliable than good ol' maxijets. A 900 or 1200 with a valve should do the trick.

you don't find that the pump constantly pushing in water that has no place to escape to kills the pump at all though?

Eheim 1048.

Tip - up the output of the CA reactor & drop the bubble count. Less backpressure on the pump = easier to control.

Moderate flow through reactor w/ few bubbles = low flow through reactor with more bubbles.

I always used an aqualifter pump on my reactor but since changing over to the AquaC reactor, I have not needed to use a feed pump at all. It is the only reactor that I have ever used that did not truely need a feed pump.
