Live Rock and Base Rock Question

If I'm going to buy liverock and baserock to let the baserock eventually turn to live....what's the absolute bare minimum of liverock can I purchase....also what's a good amt of base rock I should buy coinciding with the live rock?

Or should I just buy lots of liverock in beginning.......

thx

The more LR you get the bigger the chance of hitchhikers GOOD or BAD. Any base rock will become live in time, just takes a little longer. I think a good 50 50 combanation works well.

I agree with the others. when you do get liverock, I would inspect it very well. I had 8 unwanted crabs that appeared in mine. It was a huge hassle after losing fish after fish until I caught them all.
