Modding lighting

I have an extra 48+ all glass aquarium hood laying around that has 2 regular flouresatn bulbs in it that are 32w bulbs is there anyway to retrofit this for t5 or soemthing better that would be worthwhile and save me a bit of money?

Not worth it. I also have a similar light that came with my Oceanic. You want the reflectors to match the bulbs, also your balast won't power a T5, so all you would have left is the shell and power cord, not really worth it. Keep that light around, they work great as a light over a QT tank.
