A couple bulb replacement questions.

I have the 48" Current Orbit with 4x 65w pc bulbs. Two are actinic and two are 6700/10,000k dual daylight. It is long past time to replace the daylight bulbs.

Which do you think is better. The dual daylights or straight 10,000's?

Also, are the actinics for asthetic purposes only? I ask this and if so, to pose another question. I have a dual tube 48" standard aquarium light fixture that came with the original tank some years ago. It is NOT a VHO fixture. Would I be better served to put actinics in the florescent fixture and put all daylights in the Orbit?

Any input will be appreciated.

Steve

I suggest 2 actinic 2 10k. The daylights look too yellow, and I felt that 10k looked better with actinics than 6500. It's all personal preference.

Are you wanting to get more daylight for more growth, or color? If you're looking for growth, for what you're paying to replace the bulbs, you're halfway to the price of a used retrofit kit of T5s or halides.

Where would I look for retro kits for the 48" orbit housing? I haven't been able to find any via google?

He's probably talking about a T5 Retro in general, not one for the Current fixture. That would require your own creativity. Nobody makes a T5 retrofit kit specifically for your Orbit.
