Queen angel, Imperator angel
Can a Queen Angel fish and an Imperator(Emperor) Angel fish be kept together? 180 gallon fish only tank. 3 yrs matured. Imperator is a juvenile. He's about 2 1/2 inches only.

How long where they together? My fish store says yes but saltwaterfish.com says no. I'm confused. Anybody have first hand experience?

I would not trust a retail website for fish advice. I think it would be possible to keep a queen and a imperator together. But there is always a risk. If you are going to mix them, I think it would be best to do so while your emporer is still small and get a queen of similar size. I have mixed these angels together on a couple of occasions way back when I worked fish retail. Keep in mind a 180 is pretty small for 2 full sized angels (Emporers can get 40 cm, queens can get 45 cm)

Well I talked with another fish store and they said it would be fine, since they are juveniles. Put the new queen in and the emperor doesn't even notice her. They are both very small, my young adult flame angel is bigger than both of them. 6 ft x 2ft x ft really isn't that big, but it should do for about three years hopefully. They are really tiny. The flame angel got a little aggresive, but the little queen sure is a tough one. She held her own for about 5 minutes, and then the flame angel had enough and has left her alone.

I have both together right now. They aren't in a reef though.

I've had them both, with a gray angel as well. My queen and emperor were the best buds, never fought, always swam together, very good relationship. My emperor was changing (4.5") and the queen was starting (3.5). Kept them together for 6 or so months, then had to downsize and gave them to a bigger home. I am looking to do it again, when I have a bigger +300g FOWLR.

Good to hear about your fish. In the short time mine have been together they are doing great. They don't even notice each other. Everyone is eating like pigs. Angels are stunning fish.
