How to make a reef ready tank quieter

How does everyone stop the waterfall noise in there tank. I've seen a couple of tanks with the pvc entended to the top of the overflow. Is this the best way. Thanks for all the help.

What you are referring to is a Stockman or Durso standpipe. They make a big difference. There are dozens of articles on how to build them if you do a search for either. I like the Stockman as it is a little more compact.

I built the Durso standpipe and it works great! Look at his website here and it explains how to build one or you can order one from him, but they are extremely easy to build.
