Citron Goby - not feeding properly
Hi,
A citron goby that I introduced last thursday is causing me real concern. The back ground that I had read seemed to indicate these fish would readily accept all foods. The goby remained very static for the first few days and refused to eat anything (I tried over several days - two different types of frozen shrimp, flake, large pellets and smaller pellets). I realised that he would suffer from not eating, but it was only this morning that I saw how emaciated he is after he has started moving about more. (Citron gobies sit in such a way that their pelvic fins obscure their stomachs). It is possible that he was malnourished in the LFS and that I did not pick this up. He has begun to eat but will only accept small amounts of shrimp. Not nearly enough to recover I fear. I am therefore going to attempt to feed him multiple times a day in the hope of fattening him up. Does any one have any other suggestions. (Tank conditions are as they should be e.g. correct pH, S.G. temp). Thanks, James

Try some frozen cyclopeeze. My clown goby was slow to eat...now he is a pig and will go after whatever I feed him.
The particles are really small (ie: easy for a clown goby to eat), they disperse all over the tank (in case he is shy about coming out), and I've yet to see any of my fish who haven't gone nuts for it. Tracy |

Hi Zotzer - thanks I've just gone on line to order some; I hope it arrives in time.

Best of luck with the Citron. Mine eats pretty much whatever I put in the tank.
Hopefully after he completely settles in he will recover.
