Why are they as expensive as they are? is it their slow rate of growth and splitting

Both Ricordea florida and Ricordea yuma have slow growth rates compared to other Corallimorphians. They also don't take too kindly upon fragging. While there are many successful frags done all the time, I don't know a single person who hasn't lost at least one from fragging. In addition, R. florida can have collection restrictions on them (which is highly variable depending on location of collection, shipment, and documentation). To complicate things more, they come in a gorgeous array of colors and are highly sought after. Factor in all these, and you have an animal that is fairly uncommon in the trade that is quickly bought by customers.
