powder brown tang

Good day everyone.. I have just pickup a beautiful 3" powder brown tang from the LFS 2 days ago and is currently resident in the 10gal quarantine tank... I have done a fw dip and the sg in the quarantine tank is 1.012.. He looks perfectly good with his breathing and color are very sharp... Only thing is he's not eating.. I have place a large piece of nori seaweed on a clip and he/she will stare at it wanted to eat but its afraid.. its that normal? how can I give this baby to start eating? any advise will greatly appreciated.

I have a powder brown myself.
Try cutting some in small bite size pieces and see if it likes it that way, or try some flake food first.
Mine won't eat from a clip, so I rubber band it to a small rock and he rips it to shreds.

probably stressed from being in a 10g.

you may want to move him to a large qt tank.

Here is a strong possible solution. I have had many tangs and always used Kent marine "Garlic Extreme" to make them start to eat. Its a tiny bottle it is a strong garlic extract. I just put about two drops on formula 1 or 2, or what ever i feed that day and let the food absorb the garlic for about a hour. Then I add some tank water to my food break the cubes in to small pieces and feed my tangs. it will take a couple of tries, but for finicky eater it will work. Thats how i got my powder blue to eat. I use it all east twice a week also, i have read that it help boost immune systems and wards off any parasites as well.. Good Luck..

New Life Spectrum Foods also have finicky fish formula that is mainly made up of mussel and krill extract. It also has garlic in it and is a sinking 1mm pellet.

Cheers

whats the reason for the sg. only being 1.012? that won't do anything if treating for ich it has to be a constant 1.009 to work properly
