flow upgrades

The time has come for upgrading the flow in my tank. Currently I am running a motely crew of 3 ancient powerheads including a aquaclear20

The tank is a 45g with a 20g sump. Im looking for recomendations on a new pump to replace the above 3. The ones I currently have put out a very laminar flow even with mods to them. Currently thinking about a Tunze Nanostream 6045.

Could anyone suggest alternatives? As although I live in Europe the Tunze's arnt exactly cheap.

I'd suggest getting more than one pump. That way you've got more of a chance at eliminating all dead spots. With just one pump, sure, you could have enough flow in GPH, but you might have deadspots.

I'd suggest 2 of the Hydor Koralia #2's. They put out a very wide flow. 2 of them should be good for a 45.
