Heater troubles
so I get an IM from wife saying there is an alarm going off on my fish tank. I was a bit confused because I have no alarm on the fish tank. Turns out it was my heater. never knew it made noise. It said the temp was 92. Now I did not panic because I have suspected for a week or so that it was way off. I have a Coralife digital thermometer that read 77.8. I tossed in a glass one earlier today before I went to work and it showed about the same. So the temp sensor on the heater must be way off, in a good way. So I doubt the heater has turned on in awhile.
I have a 400 watt Hydor lying around so I had her toss that one in. So you think these heaters can be returned via the manufacture? It is over 90 days for sure but not a year. i think I bought it at Premium Aquatics. It is a Finnex BTW. I plan at some point when I actually have money is to get some sort of controller. whether it is just a temp controller or a multi controller. And I was just thinking that everything was going so smoothly this morning. The new fish were enjoying the tank. Both watchman gobies were shacked up with each other after only 2 days. It was bliss I tell ya. lol

I have had the same problem with the hydor heaters. I have had about 4 of them and everyone has done something like that. They worked great for a while then all of the sudden your turning the heater up to 89 just to keep the tank at 78. Then it would fluctuate from there. I have switched over to Marineland stealth heaters which is shatter proof, making it good for in sump mounting and it also has a safety shut off, just in case you forget to unplug it and pull it out of the water.
