Vent on thermostat and/or humidistat
I am nearing the end of a 240g in wall build, and after putting water, rock, sand AND lights, I am seeing the need of cooling my 6 x 11 feet filtration room. With Winter getting near in Central Louisiana, the ater temperature is about 77/78 degrees with lights off, and about 82 degrees with two 250w MH on.
Please note: my house was built with spray-foam insulation on the exterior walls and rafters, not the ceiling; AND the walls between my filter foom and living room (for insulation of sound)...My idea is to have one in-line fan (similar to a Fantech FR 140) in the attic running a four inch vent hose through the ceiling (no insulation) and splitting the hose to go directly above the MH pendants and possibly splitting a second time to go directly above the ballasts. Does anyone have ides and or experience. After recently completing a new house money is an issue, however...why have a 240g tank with only water in it? Also, (considering the foam insulation is on the rafters and not above the ceilings as fiberglass insulation is) would anyone consider putting the MH ballast in the attic and running the wires to the pendants through the ceiling? Note, I was told the temperature in the attic should NOT be more than ten degrees higher than the interior of the house during the summer. My worry is the high temperature and humidity in my filter room. |
