Euro-Reef RS-100 Protein Skimmer (Ya or Na?)
80 gallons total as of now, thinking of upgrading in the future. Any opinions or thoughts?

go up one to the 135 especially if upgrading, same footprint just taller with a bigger pump

I am a big fan of having a skimmer that is rated for a tank larger than the one it being used on. If you are planning on upgrading in the future than I would go with a big skimmer maybe the 135 or 180 (if it were me I would go with the 180).

What about reliability and proformance of the brand? Any buzzing or stange quirks about the unit? Didn't know there was an RS135, looks like a better deal than the RS130.

I would look into the DAS ex-1. It a lot better value but it is also a big skimmer so make sure you can fit it in your set up.

I just got the RS 100 5 days ago. I have a 65 gal with a medium/heavy bio load, and I have mostly sps and I feed heavily.
My sump didnt have much room, so size was an issue. I had been using a Coralife CSS 65, and I knew it was undersized. My other choice was the Tunze 9010. I spoke with Marine Depot and it seemed the RS100 would fit. It fit fine and it produces lots of tiny bubbles. Im very happy with the skimmer. There was a break in period and its still breaking in. But it is skimming great. |

I just picked up an older 135 used. It took no time at all to start pulling some good gunk out. I love it so far and can only imagine that newer ones are even better.

I have an RS100 and it never skimmed real well to me. I would go with the 135 with the larger pump. Otherwise ER makes great skimmers and I should be getting my second skimmer from them this friday.
