Kalk Reactor Question

Any advice before I install this reactor?
I have a 90 gallon tank with around 1.5-2 gallons evap per day
It is going to be added inline with my ro top off.

just make sure the effluent going in the tank is clear. What are you using to dose it? Does this supply all your top off water? If so, what type of valve are you using? Are you using a dosing pump? Gravity?

I have a 5 gallon reservoir that is filled by my ro system.
From there I have a dosing pump controlled by a float switch(located in the sump) that pulls water from the reservoir and pushes the ro into the kalk reactor and then into the sump. It is not gravity fed.
I hope that made sense.
Does this sound like a good to use setup? Looking for all the advice because I have never used this type of system before.

My only advice is to test your calcium and alkalinity regularly.

Just make sure your dosing pump is above the reactor / supply so it is "sucking" the RO water. Otherwise if something happens to the pump you can get backfeed back into your supply or if a tube leak happens you may drain all your supply RO / reactor slurry onto the floor

Also if you didn't already know it, "drip" the kalk. If you put the kalk line into the water you may have backfeed siphon problems.

Otherwise you look good to go!

Can the Kalk reactor pump be ran for too much time??? My timer can only run it for 30 minutes minimum at a time.

FYI 2 gallons of limewater a day, requires a pretty healthy demand.

I just found that out, my levels were too high, so until my corals grow out, I had to cut it down to 1 gallon o flimewater for now.

But that was good news to me, more room for frags!

Thanks for the info. I am not sure if I have a high med or low demand. However my tank is the upper half all sps and the lower half all lps. (From left to right)
At the current time I have been using sea lab tablets and they are added every 4-5 days and my top off water was using 9 grams Reef Builder every night. This keeps my calcium around 390-400 and dkh around 8.4.

Sea Lab tablets? Ca tablets?

Sea Lab no 28 Tablets
They keep my calcium and magnesium up. They say they keep alk up but I still dose for that.

I now have a digital timer so the pump only runs for 1 min 3 times a day.
