Another ASM or Octopus question

Ok help me decide on which skimmer I should choose. I have a 90gal mixed reef, with a light bio-load at the moment but more fish will be added latter down the road. I currently use a aquaC remora which actually works fairly well. (But I have not used any other skimmers so I can not compare it to anything) I was looking into a Euro reef but money is an issue so I would rather spend a little less on the skimmer in order to finance other components of the tank like a auto top off, dosing pump, and ect…My local fish store suggested either the ASM G2 or an octopus. I have heard many good things about asm and I have seen all the asm bashing so I don’t know what to think of them. I did see a couple of them in action at the fish store and for the price they looked pretty impressive. I also like the octopus and was thinking that either a NW-150 or DNW-150 might work well. The only thing that worries me about the octopus skimmers is the height clearance issue. The NW-150 looks like it will fit under the tank but the DNW-150 might not, its height is 26.5”. But I could run this outside of the stand I guess. So I am looking for any and all opinions on either model. Thanks in advance.

Look at the new extreme octo's coming out in a couple weeks. The 160 should be good or the 200 would work well for you. www.marinesolutionsinc.com You could go with the regular octo 150recirc. They only thing about the regular octo's is your not going to get as good of performance unless you mod them. The octo 150 nw stock pulls around 5 scfh. If you mod it you can get around 20 or so. The 200 nw pulls around 13scfh stock, once modded it'll do 40scfh. The extreme's out of the box will pull around 45-50scfh. There are many skimmers that will work for you. The das line, bermuda, ER, H&S, BM.......it goes on and on. But i wouldn't suggest an ASM or AquaC

Good info thats what I was looking for, maybe I will wait for an extreme. I like the BM and ER but a little more than I can spend at the moment. I will also look into the H&S I forgot about them. Thanks for the help

t-bone2,
Thats why I was looking at the asm they use the same pump as the euro-reef, I know there might be other factors but for the price the asm at first glance looked like a good deal. I guess I was looking for a top end skimmer at a low end price and that will almost never happen.
