Pics of my Flatback Hex Reef Tank.

Seems like there wasn't a lot of new posts so I figured I'd create some new content to check out. This is my livingroom tank, it's a flatback hex 125g w/ 2 250 20k MH Radiums (very blue). I also 'JUST' added 2 additional 54w T5's for some white and accent so I could get decent pics because the radium blue makes taking pics hard.

I have a few more pics available if you would like to see the rest of the album or slideshow here:

Very nice!!! So what is the orange thing on the far right? Is it a sponge? If so how long have you had it?

Chris

Hi all thanks for checking it out and the nice comments too!

Chris, yes that's a large orange sponge. I've had it for about 5 mos, sponges are tough to keep so thats good for me. It's holding it's color but does have a slight dieoff at the base.

Hi Greg: Yes please come by sometime and check it out. I'd like to get your opinion on a few corals. How's that beautiful purple nano doing you picked up from Brian TBRC meeting?

Thanks new nanodude! It's ok but you sould see some of these guys setups who just posted! Woah; I got some growing to due yet in mine! I gotta learn to keep my hands outta the tank!

Hi Bryan! Thanks for checking it out. Still want to squeeze in a small RBTA for the clowns somewhere. I'm just worried it will wander around stinging corals and not settling in the spot I placed him. Is there a trick for making them stay in one area?

Hey Emmett! Thanks for the link. I really like the blue spectrum on the Radiums but it's hard to caprure the true color on a pic for some reason with the way the blue messes with the camera. Glad I finally got the additional T5's on. Thanks for the Green stag addition, I added it to the top of the tank by the other. It still needs to settle in. Whenever your ready to take a trip down south to bradenton to checkout marine dreams let me know, maybe Greg will let us stop by and say hi while were there, he lives close to the store and has really nice tank setup's and I've been wanting to see the DIY project he built last mo.

Lol, I know about emmetts setup. He does have one amazing tank also. I got to keep learning so I can have mine looking like some of yours sometime soon. I do have some nice corals sofar. BUT am waiting to do a couple of things to my tank before i try a bunch of SPS.

My 75 will have a bunch of softies/LPS around the bottom of the tank, and then the whole top will be SPS when it is done. Boy I cant wait. The pictures I got in my mind already are blowing me away haha.

Again that is a wonderful tank. Hope to see it in person some day soon.

Hi Gsellers1245. I also have the PFO ballast (bought from wsurf4me) I really like the setup very solid and professional looking. I had been running only the two Radiums. I get slower but ok growth on the corals. I just added a couple T5's which I'm only running for a few hours, I'm intrested to see what effect they have on the corals growth or color. For now my nano-bonsi isn't happy with the slight change?!

Roger: that's a 2 piece large section of green staghorn, now it grows quick even under the 20k radiums. I added a nice addition to that from emster (Emmett.) I'll take another corner pic and pm it for you. There's also a cool flat green "cactus coral" up there that's about 4" x 8", nice piece too.

checkinhawk: Thanks. The large ora blue milli is like 15" across by 7" tall. It's my favorite in the tank. For some reason milli's seem to do well in there and get really "harry!"

pmike25: M-I-K-E !!! Hi Mike welcome back! The turtles are doing their thing in the outdoor pond. I need to get out there and clean it out so I can actually see them again! The Red lobster I got from you is doing good too, he grew the other claw and I think either he or my brittle star ate my mated pair of Jawfish thou Grrrr.!
