Exclamation cloudy tank = flooded floor

so i woke up this morning to a flooded floor. not sure why but my tank got really cloudy and caused my skimmer to go crazy. my skimmer cup has a overflow tube that drains into a 2 liter bottle. the bottle was full and probably another 2-3 gallons was on the floor.

anyone know what could have caused this?

temp 81.4
salinity 1023.
ph 8.0
trite 0
trate <20
phos 0
cal 400
kh 143 ppm

i assume the salinity droped from 1.025 because of the ATO was pumping in fresh water while the skimmer was dumping salt water
there was a litte drop in ph about .2, and nitrates went up from
5 to about 20 (looks to be a little less).

why did the water get cloudy?

thanks for the help
jim

Have you got a pic of your cloudy tank? Could be a bacteria bloom. What have you been feeding? Did you give your live rocks a bit of a blast recently?

Alot of things make askimmer go crazy. From just putting your hand in the tank to feeding.

If I had to guess, I'd say you had some caulerpa macroalgae and it went sexual on you, causing your skimmer to overflow.

didn't blast the rocks lately. have fed in anything in four day( only have a CUC , and 2 shrimp)
the skimmer is a pro clear aquatics.
not sure what caulerpa looks like, but there is some green algae growing on a couple of the rocks.
if it is caulerpa going sexual, is there anyway to remove it? or something that eats it?
the tank has been running a about 6 weeks and is going through a little diatom outbreak also.

Bacterial bloom? What supplements are you adding? Are you dosing sugar or vodka by any chance?
