RODI Help.
Some questions about rodi...
I have a 6 stage rodi. Water flows through the first 3 stage, then goes to the "IN" of the auto shut off. The "OUT" goes to the RO. The output of the RO is T'd. One leg goes to the 4 gallon canister, the other goes to the unmarked "IN" of the auto shut off. The unmarked "OUT" goes to the DI stages. Now my issues. When I have the output completely shut off and the canister shut off, the RO is still creating waste water. I thought the auto shut off was supposed to stop the flow before getting to the RO. So logically I bought another auto shut off. I hooked it up and the same thing. I'll have the output valve shut off and it is still creating waste water. I am stumped here. The only thing I can think of is that maybe my house pressure is too high. When the output gets shut off, the water pressure behind the valve pushes it open. So logically, I twisted the needle valve halfway down to restrict the input. Still creates water. I'm stumped.. |

how long did you wait to decide it wasnt turning off..
also your auto shut off may be reversed ( in and out of the FEED side may be on the in and out of the clean side) my advice.. let it fill the tank and dont use any water for a day.. i know mine takes a while even after tanks full to build to shut off pressure

![]() I was messing with it a little bore tonight, It seems that if I have the waste production set too high, it does not shut off. I kind of guestimated the 3 to 1 ratio. I emptied the 4 gallon. I will wait until tomorrow to see what has happened. Is it possible that the valve needs back pressure to shut off properly? I guess if the waste was too high, the water may push its way through the shut off valve. I guess tomorow Ill have a better guess of what is happening.. |

Sounds like it may be a faulty or missing check valve. In order for the ASO valve to work properly, you need a check valve on the clean water output of the RO housing. This check valve is usually built into the elbow coming out of the RO. It sounds like either yours is faulty, missing, or hooked up in the wrong place.
Here is what the elbow check valve looks like, this would be screwed into the RO clean water output... http://www.airwaterice.com/product/W...k_connect.html Or it could be an inline check valve after the RO clean water output... http://www.airwaterice.com/product/W...n_Line_14.html Did you put it together yourself? Usually the storage canister comes after the ASO valve and before the DI. Maybe you have a check valve but it is just in the wrong place? Last edited by brian2kgt; 12/08/2007 at 09:49 PM. |

I had no idea that a check valve was built into the elbow. My unit was pre built but I had it apart so many times with a long time apart waiting for filter replacements etc.. Its possible I got it back together wrong. LUCKILY my new ASV came with an inline check valve. Ill get that inline this morning if Im still having an issue.
