Opinion...Best skimmer

I'm researching skimmers and am pretty new to the hobby. What, in your opinion, is the best brand of skimmer? What are brands to stay away from (I realize this is strictly opinion - but other reefer's opinions are worth their weight in gold!)?

I have been using a Coralife Super Skimmer on my 29g. I have had my tank up since September. The skimate is very wet but that might be because I only have 2 fish and I have to turn it up to remove what little waste they produce. I have been happy with it for the price.

Skimmers get as good as your budget will allow, so what is your budget and how big is the tank and what would you like to keep in it?

I am considering upgrading to a 75g from a 20g...that is what I would be using it for.

I use an Aqua C Remora Pro Hang on skimmer rated for 40-120 gal. If you want one for a 20 gal I don't think you can get one that will work with both a 20 and a 75 or 125. They sell one that is rated for 20-75,but IMO that would not be good enough for a 75 gal. If you want a skimmer for the 20 gal. then you should buy one rated for that size and when the time comes for you to upgrade your tank, you can always sell it and buy a new one. I think that would be your best bet!!!By the way I have a 46 gal. bow myself. Good Luck!!! and Happy Holidays!!!!

I have a octopus recirculating nw 150 now. I'm waiting on the octopus extremes to get some reviews when they come out. They look very well made. IMO

Ive been able to get dry skimmate out of a seaclown but it requires almost daily adjustment and an air valve mod for the air intake. If i had the spare change (which was blown on a t-5 retrofit) or could do it again i'd probably go with a octopus recirc nw110.
