Recommended pump size for wavemaker?

I'm going to use the wavemaker function of my Reefkeeper 2 in a 125. Looking at the Tunze Nano pumps, which would be best? I'm not sure how much flow you're supposed to be looking for with wavemakers.

The 6025 is 660 gph and the 6045 is 1,189 gph. My gut says the 6025 is what I'm after.

Planning on the tank being LPS and polyps - maybe some SPS.

Tank will be fed by an Ocean Runner 6500. Two inlets, each with a Y-style flex line.

Tunze nanos should not be used on a wavemaker with the possible exception of the Seio which slows the pump down but never shuts it off.

Thanks. Then besides Maxi's, what can be used with a Reefkeeper 2 as the wavemaker controller?

And what kind of flow rate should I be looking for?

I'm not sure if there is any special rules regarding flow when using wavemakers. You would still want the high flow, you are just usually alternating it with a wavemaker.
So many pumps clatter on start-up that I am not sure which pumps besides the maxi's are recommended for regaular on/off wavemakers. They have those kits for maxi jets now that convert them to prop pumps. That's always an option, especially if you already own the Maxi Jets.

Lets see, recently, I've had Seios (820), Maxi Jets, Tunze Nano 6025 and Koralia 3 and 4. They all clatter on startup on regular wavemaker except the maxi jets. If thats not enough deterrent, they are all supposed to have signifigantly shorter lifespans on wavemakers that turn on and off. I think that Tunze says you can put them on an on/off wavemaker as long as the cylce times are 30 minute or more? Maybe its longer. Not much use in that.

So, besides from maxi jets, I dont know what works quietly, without shorter lifespan, on wavemakers. I use Koralias and Tunze nanos on the Seio wavemaker. There are the controllable Tunze streams and the big Nano with the Tunze controllers if you have the green. There are the Vortec's and controller if you have the green. I thought that one or more of those controllers, like your reefkeeper, had built in stuff to control some of the Tunze pumps without needing the seperate Tunze controllers? Maybe I read wrong.

I am waiting for more info to come out on the new TAAM/Seio programmable/controllable pumps. I dont think they are available yet.

Anyway ... dont have a definitive answer for you. I just know that the Nanos shouldnt be used with on/off wavemakers. What happens if you do in terms of how much noise they make and how long they last, I dont know. I was going to just run the Koralias on an on/off wavemaker until they died or didnt die but after a couple of days, I couldnt take the start-up clatter anymore.
