175 HQI or 400 Single end M/H?

Which is better for growing sps and so on? I will have the light right over the top of them. I Would rather use the 175 because of the power needed and so on. What is your thoughts?

Tank spec. 75 gallon frag tank. I am kinda useing it as a frag/sump/share water with my 120 reef.

i would use two 175's for a tank that long, but they do not come in HQI. the best 175 bulb is probably the iwasaki 15k, it is brighter then some 250 bulbs. Two 175's should give you better coverage then a single 400 and plenty of output with good reflectors.

depending on how high the frag rack sits in the tank determines what bulbs you can use. You should be able to grow any sps under a good 150 bulb at a depth of 18 inches if you have good clear water, good reflector, and don't run the reflector much more then 6 inches off the water. You will have to use a 10k or lower temp bulb. I can't get to sanjays site right now, but it can guide you to which bulbs are brightest.

Here is a link the the setup I have. I really want to use it because I can work around it easy instead of a retro fit.

I am sure I will be fine. I made a magfloat Frag rack and put it right under the light. about 11 total inches away from the light. Where/what kind of bulbs are you talking about?
