Calcium Reactor or Kalkwasser Reactor??? Help Please

Ok so heres the deal. I have a 125 gal. tank with a 55 gal sump/fudge. Can some body please explain the difference between a calcium reactor and a kalkwasser reactor? For top off i am using regular RO/DI water with nothing added to it and i add about 4 gal every other day. Thanks alot.

That article might help.

For some tanks, a kalk reactor won't be able to supply enough calcium and alkalinity, so if you want a lot of stony corals, that might be an issue.

A kalk reactor amply supplies my 54...and I have talked with people up to a 100g that are happy thus far with that; but when you get into larger territory, you may want a calcium reactor.

Bertoni's reference is The Deal.

In a nutshell, a calcium reactor forces more calcium in faster than a kalk reactor can do passively.

Salinity 1.024-6; alkalinity 8.3-9.3 on KH scale; calcium 420; magnesium 1300, temp 78-80, nitrate .2. Ammonia 0. No filters: lps tank. Alk and cal won't rise if mg is low.

Current Tank Info: 105g AquaVim wedge, yellow tang, sailfin blenny, royal gramma, ocellaris clown pair, yellow watchman, 100 microceriths, 25 tiny hermits, a 4" conch, 1" nassarius, recovering from 2 year hiatus with daily water change of 10%.

I am happy with my kalk reactor on my 120 with 65 sump/fug. But my calcuim demands arent high.
