Finally Got RO Unit
After around 8 months of using tap, I finally got an RO unit the other day. What steps should I take to try and reverse the damage done thus far?

I'd do a series of 30% changes. Like two this week, two next week, until you're confident you have some clean water flowing through your tank.

Don't quote me on this, but I think there is a calculator that will tell you how long it takes to totally replace the original water with that of WC's. I'm not sure where I've seen it. It very well may be on the Home page of this great site. You tell the calculator the capacity of your system, then you put in how much water you are going to change and how often - then it tells you how long it will take - I'm pretty sure on this.

Tap is very bad in most cases but if all other factors are in place then this may not be the cause of your troubles. I would do weekly 30 % changes for a month then weekly 20% another month and then your usuall.

What's the damage? If there's nothing wrong with the tank now I would just do changes as normal.

if you can test for phosphates, that is probably the worst thing the tap water was putting into your tank.
