how long to change the pump for the Euro-Reef skimmer

do you change the pump for Euro-Reef skimmer regulaly? or there is some signs to let us know the pump is not running well.

I would guess 5+ years. Considering a new Venturi pump will run you over $300.00. what brand do you have? How much is it skimming? Have you tanken it apart to see how it looks?
