protein skimmer

iam in the process of setting up a 75 gallon reef do i need to add a skimmer right away if not how long can i go with out having one? i have heard many differen't rumors etc...

they help a lot. do you have live rock? is it cured? if it's not cured, having a protein skimmer in there will help cure it a lot faster. when buying one, it's a good idea to get one rated for twice the size of the tank.
i'm setting up a 125g and i'm getting one right away. HTH
