Dispar Anthias and Lyretail Anthias?
I have a 180 g tank with 3 female and 1 male Lyretail Anthias. I'm looking to add a few more fish. Is it possible to mix Dispar Anthias with the Lyretail? Thanks!

I think SDguy has a mixture like this. I'm sure he'll chime in. At the least, make sure you don't get two males if you can.

Properly QT'ed dispar, that are eating well, have full bellies, and have been completely dewormed, should mix fine in that sized system. Carl C will chime in....but I would not do dispars unless to QT as mentioned for a good 2 months.

I have been thanking about adding some Anthias to my tank, can you share some insight about these fish? how many to a tank, type, behavior, concerns? Have seen some at the LFS and would be a nice addition to my tank for color and movement, but i know little about them. |

I don't think you'd have a problem mixing he species. Dispar can be dominating to smaller timid species but squammies can easily hold their own and keep the dispar inline.
Like Peter mentioned though a long QT will make it easier on the fish and you. IMO dispar along with ignitus are some of the most parasite infested species available. A few treatments with Prazi Pro after they are eating well is highly recommended. Keep their food soaked in Vita Chem, Selcon and Beta Glucon and they will do great. Carl |
