30 gallon sump in under a 72 gallon bowfront
I have a 72 gallon bowfront sitting on a standard bowfront stand. I want to upgrade my sump and build a sump/refrigium out of a 30 gallon aquarium. My question is has anyone put a 30 gallon in the bottom of this stand. It looks extremely tight with the support in the front and back. I know it will fit but I am not sure I can get it in the door and turn it.
Thanks and happy New Year. |

I had a 20 long under mine, but I had to put it through the top to get it in. When I went to a basement sump I had to smash it to get it back out with the tank in place.
I had the plain old AGA Oak stand.

I have a 90 gallon bow with a 30 gallon tank underneath it. I think the 72/90 are the same length.
My stand doesn't have a support member between the doors. Both doors swing outward so your access under that tank is unimpeded (which is why I could get the 30 in there). Also, it is an oceanic with oceanic stand. I'm sure many stands are built differently with different clearances. To be safe, I would grab a piece of cardboard, cut it to the size of the 30 and see if you can get it in there OK. |

with the brace in the middle of my 72 stand I couldn't have gotten a 30 in (or a 20 out!). It depends a lot on the stand i guess.

I have a 72G Bow with fitted stand and I fit a 20G acrylic sump 24X12X18. I'm guessing the 30G dimensions are 30X12X18. If that's the case you can get in. You will have to turn it in from the back in which the opening is 28 1/2" wide. You should have enough wiggle room to fit if the sump fots thos dimensions. Looks like I may have to upgrade as well.....

I tried the cardboard idea tonight and it was so close especially with the sump down there I couldn't tell for sure. Also I can't come in from the rear because the tank is up and running and is sitting against the wall.
