is this too much

would two Luminarc Reflectors be too much for a 75 gal. tank.

For a 48" by 18" wide i'd go with the mini's and 250w and you'll be fine. Maybe a little wasted light on the sides unless you keep them closer to the surface.

I have this configuration on my 75 gallon and I love it! Just make sure you leave enough room for easy access above the tank!

how tall do I need to make the Canopy. I am building it myself

The canopy should be 14-16" tall. Mine is 12" and it is too short.

I think the standard Luminarcs are too wide for a 75g. You can use them, but 4+ inches of the reflector are going to have to hang out passed the back and the canopy is going to have to be at least 12 inches tall imo (for the reflectors to be 4 inches over the water). You might want to check out the minis as Luke mentioned.

I think they are 14.5" x 14.5" so they should fit under the 75 being 18 in W right?
