Euro-Reef Skimmer Question

I am contemplating buying the Euro Reef RS 250 for my 120 gallon SPS reef tank. Is this too large? Should I get the 180 instead? My sump will be a 40g breeder. Flow through the sump will be 700-800 gph(depending on head loss).. I will be using an eheim 1262 as the return pump.

A 180 will handle your system fine, but I am a fan of larger capacity skimmers. So, I would go with the 250 and have a large bioload.

Don't forget to order the gate valve right away so that you can dial these skimmers in.

If I do not have a HUGE bioload, will the RC-250 be too big? Is it possible to overskim a system?

Depends on who you ask. I don't think so. I like the idea of throwing whatever I want at my system and not have to worry about if my filtration can handle it. Some skimmers are not suitable to be ran oversized but Euroreef is not one of them.
