broken bottom panel on my Lee Mar tank

Hey all,
I just drained the tank, removed the starboard and started trying to get the overflow out. Its a center overflow, I mean center, acrylic and siliconed to the bottom. After cutting and tweeking on the overflow, draining all the water and cleaning I found a crack that runs from the center hole to the side panel. The bottom is two layers of glass, the crack is on the top layer. I'm guessing 3/8" maybe 1/4".

Here's an idea of what it looks like.

I'm thinking it can be fixed by just gluing in a 1/2" section of glass like the drawing below shows, what do ya think?
