Question Power Compact Question

I have the Current Orbit lighting fixture which i am extremely pleased with for what i keep, and I know that there are much better lighting systems out there, but i cannot afford to upgrade right now... ok, here is my question

can I replace the dual daylight bulb (6,700K/10,000K) with just the 6,700k bulb.... I read that it is better for corals to have the 6,700K, and the 10,000K is just for a color pleasing affect on the eyes. I only keep mushrooms, leather coral, and kenya tree, which all frag like crazy, and these babies grow like crazy also.

Main reason is that the 6,700K replacement bulb is not only cheaper, but if its better for the corals, than its a double bonus for me and my tank

let me know what you guys and gals think

I have tried the ones from ebay. They are ok, but I don't think they are quite as bright or last as long as a regular bulb.

Your corals will suffer if you don't change the bulbs every 3 months. Also tey are smaller in diameter than regular bulbs.

Stick with the good ones.

Thanks for the warning Namas... i guess in the long run cheaper does cost more.

would anyone be able to answer my question regarding replacing the dual daylight with a bulb only having 1 k rating versus 2? just want to know what may be better for the inhabitants....

thanks

I personally don't think you will like having a full 6700K bulb, they are going to be more yellow then what you currently have. You might get more growth but, if you don't like the color of the lights over your tank, what good is that growth.
