Totally NewB Regulator question!

I am setting up a calcium reactor for the first time and wanted to know what do you seal the threads with on the Co2 tank to ensure a leak free fit to the regulator? I was thinking rectorseal typically used on gas piping threads.

Thanks, I know there is a white plastic washer to seal the two but I was under the assumption you still needed something on the threads.
