The "Everything is OK" Thread
Every day, we can read hundreds of threads about this issue and that issue and we do our best to assist others. I'm just curious as to how many out there are NOT having problems with their tanks. NO hair algae outbreaks, NO cyano, NO diatoms, NO brown algae, NO pH issues, NO mass die-offs, NO sky high phosphates or nitrates, etc...
Surely some of us are actually enjoying this hobby!! Who's tank is doing well??

I've got a little cyano in my tank but its not a problem by any means just small area. But other than that i'm doing pretty well with my young 4 month old tank. Excelent growth for the corals.

Hey, good idea. My tank's doing great on the new kalk rig I put together, just decided to pull the fox coral out of the mound the tiger pistol shrimp was trying to build, so it's annoyed with me, but the fuge is growing like gangbusters, ready to divide the cheato, the kalk is doing fine, the corals are all starting to divide, and I have only the mildest dose of powdery film algae [comes off like powder] despite my bad habit of spoiling my YWG with pellet [he loves it and so does the mandy.]
Nobody's died, and the corals are starting to grow like crazy all of a sudden.

I am finally able to just sit back and enjoy the tank. No issues to deal with, just feed the tank and clean the glass every once in a while. I think ozone has really helped make this possible.
I realized the other day that I had never had a tank that I just enjoyed and did not have to work on something or deal with something or buy something new...A really cool thing for me was that I was at my LFS the other night and did not buy anything. First time ever I think. But I really do not need anything and its sooooo nice. |

Two years running and nothing wrong with my little tank. No hair algae, everythings stable, and fish and coral are happy as can be. I do have so flatworms in the tank that do not bother the coral or livestock, just sit around on the rocks and glass all day. Not a problem just looks bad but it is a good stress releaver. Nothing like comming back from class and murdering a hundred flatworms.

What I have automated:
topoff [75.00] calcium/alkalinity dosing: kalk reactor for corals tank [2.50 sheet of eggcrate and materials at hand] skimmer [350.00 ---got one big enough it takes a week to fill] refugium [other half of eggcrate sheet holding skimmer above sump, so I have room]---means no algae, no glass scraping, except for pesky coralline. SOoooo nice not to have to mess with daily testing, daily dosing, and endless algae scraping.

The fun for me is the challenge of problem solving and research. I have a routine now for ca, alk and mag and never had any cyano or hair algae.
The tank has gotten to be very easy here lately, now that I decided to leave well enough alone and just maintain the basics. I added some SPS 3 months ago and now realize my XM 15000k 250's suck and have very low PAR and have ordered some Phoenix 14's. Overall, I'm stress free. |

What a great thread idea!
My 30g is a very KISS setup with a pair of maroons and a few inverts - it has some pest anemones and microalgaes, but they kind of fit the tank's theme (everything in the tank was unwanted or rejected by someone). The 90g is a tad more automated and it too has its imperfections (a little turf algae, Halimeda growing like mad everywhere and a few pest nems) but overall it's a gorgeous, very healthy tank. I guess I'm pretty easy to please; as long as the water stays in the tanks and not on my carpet and the livestock is healthy, I can't complain ![]()

Doing fine here. Some dinos, but otherwise OK. Numbers are stable. No losses in months. Corals are growing, except the xenia but I don't consider that a problem. Peppermint shrimp keep making babies, though it would be nice if a few survived to adulthood. I don't have to keep sticking my hand in the tank to pull algae or kill aiptasia, just right a snail or pick up a coral and scrape the glass a little.
Now, my FO and FW tanks are another story. But the reef is doing fine for a change.

When I saw the first post I immediately thought of the jinx factor, too. hehe...
Glad to report all three of my tanks are doing better than they have in months. I finally conquered my hair algae problems and have started rebuilding my SPS collection after last summer's RTN episode. Fingers crossed, knock on wood, salt over shoulder, avoid black cats, no walking under ladders or breaking mirrors....

im not going to say my tank is OK, but i am happy with it.
after 3+ years, i finally got a skimmer, and am using RO water... honestly, just so i can say i do it. I had no problems before with algae, and as long as i dont say anything now, i cant jinx myself! i have a great job a an amazing LFS, that has insane connects at ORA(one of the rep ladys loves our manager, and sends free corals, and gives us more then the limit on some rare things sometimes ![]() I also get things at wholesale price, tanks, stands, anything made by current, which lead my to start the setup of a new 15 gallon 'dream tank.' i can do basically what i want with it, at a sane cost. the best part is, i put things on credit with work, so i pay things off when i can with either frags form my 29, or money... whichever is easier. as soon as i get the tank drilled, start looking for a build thread form me. All i need is the tank, some PVC fittings and i can put it all together. I guarentee interesting stuff! |

My tanks are wonderful. Could not be happier. Being the tinkerer I am I still have some improveents I would like to make, but despite myself the tanks are incredible.
So fun to watch. Only took 8 years to get to this point.

Doing very well.
Had a small algae outbreak last week for the first time in many months, just a little on the sand in the front corners. Stopped dosing aminos and feed only pellets a for a few days and it went away. I am actually happy, I have been battling "low nutrients" for awhile and it feels like I finally beat it ![]() I successfully got rid of a aptasia outbreakin the sump and overflow a month or two ago. That was cool to be able to do so easily. All the fish are happy. Colors keep improving, and growth is great. Parameters have been great for months aqnd PE is always there. Just ordered my most expensive load of coral ever from ATL today. Have some new RO/Di filters arriving tommorow as well. Tommorow will be a good day with all the goodies arriving ![]()
